一首非常Tyler的歌曲，一首為大家而寫、希望所有人跟著唱的歌曲

尤其是Bridge：We're broken / We're broken / We're broken people...

以下是Track by Track影片裡Tyler講到這首歌的時候說的話：

“I wrote this one on the ukulele…I wanted people to sing with me. I didn't know if there was going to be anyone to sing these songs, that's what is really cool about this album. All these songs were written in a place and time where I didn't know if anyone was going to hear them. And I'll never have that back…these songs were written without any pressure, without any goal really. No standard, no structure, no reason other than this is what I was going through and its what I wish someone else was writing, so I'm going to write it.”

「我用烏克麗麗寫了這首歌... 我想要大家跟著我一起唱。（寫歌的時候）我不知道會不會有人想唱這些（我寫的）歌，這是這張專輯很奇妙的地方，所有歌都是在一個、我不知道會不會有人聽到這些歌的時間地點下寫出來的，而我沒辦法再那樣做了（因為已經有一群支持top的人，期待並聽著每一首Tyler寫出來的作品）。寫這些歌的時候真的是毫無壓力、毫無目的的，沒有什麼標準、沒有什麼侷限，沒有任何理由會贏過『這是我正在經歷的、而這是我想要有人寫出來的東西，所以我就把他寫出來了』這種寫歌的理由。」

基本上就是說當初寫歌的時候和現在完全不同了

在培養出一群支持者之前，寫出來的歌有誰會聽到？是誰會聽到？

沒有任何被期待的，也就沒有任何拘束跟侷限

現在有了一群Clique而且還在茁壯中，Tyler寫歌的時候可能就會想得更多了

這也是之所以有Fairly Local這首歌的誕生吧，專門為Clique的大家而寫的歌

回到這次的歌曲Screen

首先我要恭喜自己XD 把Vessel這張專輯的歌曲全都翻完了

下一首可能是Kitchen Sink吧可能，但不知道什麼時候會翻好，希望不要拖到寒假T_T 覺得累

這首Screen讓我有點意外的是Screen這詞只出現在Verse 1而已

而且和大家一樣看到歌詞"Cause there's a screen on my chest"就想到...

好了好了不要離題XD 看到童年就有點回不來，而且Tyler的表情好煩XD

這首Screen並不沉重，並且和Tyler以往許多歌曲一樣裡面都有一個不知道是指誰的"You"

但這個You是誰就up to you囉，歌詞解釋很多說是God，但我看到一個說法還滿喜歡的

Genius上的網友NickAskew說：Firstly I love this song. I am not religious although clearly Tyler is. However when I asked my daughter (11) who she thought Tyler might be singing to in the intro she said “He is talking to himself”... However from a non theistic point of view I took it as being something more beautiful. He is talking to the only person who truly knows his own mind and that is himself.（先說我愛這首歌。我不是基督教徒但很顯然Tyler是。不過當我問我11歲女兒「你覺得Tyler在一開始是在對誰唱歌」，她回答「他在對自己說話」。... 從非神論觀點來說我覺得這樣這首歌更完美了，他對著唯一知道自己是誰的人傾訴，而那個人就是他自己。）

關於歌詞我就不多贅述了，大抵都在歌詞解析那裏了

雖然副歌只看中文歌詞翻譯可能會覺得怪怪的，尤其"I'm trying to be so cool"？

不過可以把cool想成是很棒的意思 awesome之類

簡而言之，是一首傾聽自己內心的歌曲

當我們選擇隱藏自己的脆弱，即便是在最親的人面前也不禁把某些東西藏到心底去

我們是否就因此得到了安全感呢... 因為總是不完美，卻又想表現出最完美的那一面

這首歌唱的這些imperfection，是一種不完美的完美，因為有著缺陷而美麗的道理

我想Tyler到底是希望大家擁抱不完整的自己，擁抱這個不完美的世界和所有缺陷吧

＞hide my soul的意思不外乎是「隱藏真正的自己」。

＞躲在自尊之後，說著「I'm fine」，但整首歌所指的You其實根本明白、也看得透自己的脆弱和虛偽。

＞明明站在你面前，知道自己是broken people，卻還是努力的try to be cool；我想要隱藏真正脆弱的自己、想要戴上讓人以為自己堅強的面具，表現出別人期待的更好的那一面。

＞字典裡一句諺語的意思和這句差不多：can't see beyond the end of nose，意思是過於關注自己的一切、過分在意自己，而忘了身邊其他更重要的事情。can't see past my own nose的意思在這裡應為「難以想像別人所想的」，近乎「自己看到的世界和別人看到的世界不可能一樣」。Kitchen Sink中有一段歌詞唱到：Nobody thinks what you think, no one / Empathy might be on the brink of extinction（沒有人和你想的一樣，沒有／同理心或許要瀕臨絕種了）或許和這句有一點相似，都有一種困在自己的黑暗中，看不清真相的感覺。

＞綜合Genius網友的觀點跟我的延伸：一個陷入悲傷的人會陷入時間緩慢的錯覺，在極度憂鬱或絕望的時候，時間的流動彷彿是凝結的，因為世界在此刻是如此黑暗冰冷。

機動火車頭我的思想激動又瘋狂

＞locomotive就是火車頭，負責拉動整列火車的引擎所在，也可以看成火車頭就是思想動機-motives，而其後的車廂就是我們因為motives做出的一舉一動。這一句歌詞Tyler玩了文字遊戲，把火車頭這個單字locomotive拆解成loco跟motive；loco在拉丁語系裡有"crazy"、"insane"的意思，所以"loco-motive"變成了「瘋狂-動機」。

他們了解如果我唱有饒舌的歌我就不會在電台出現

＞flow本意是文字、說話的流暢度，現在也是饒舌的意思。第一句"My flow's not great, okay"有人認為Tyler是自言自語，對自己的饒舌不夠有自信，但應該是在「音樂市場競爭」之下才會這樣說的；但我覺得"My flow's not great"是唱片公司、音樂市場告訴他的事情，於是他說"okay"好吧，有種無奈、妥協、不情願的感覺，並且和那些人（唱片公司）討論，希望取得平衡，也更希望讓自己想要說的東西、想要做的音樂能夠如願發行。

＞Fairly Local有段歌詞和這一段很相似：「Yo, this song will never be on the radio / Even if my clique were to pick and the people were to vote.」

＞最後一句網友推測是引用了1960年代知名acid rock迷幻搖滾樂團The Jimi Hendrix Experience的一首歌，Purple Haze當中的一句歌詞：「Excuse me while I kiss the sky」。

＞仔細聽的話會發現這Verse 2裡一直有出現，後來發行的2015年專輯中Blurryface的聲音。

＞Tyler Joseph via Rock Sound: The stand out thing for me on this song is the invitation on the bridge…The point of the song is to have more than just me singing it, I hate playing this song in front of people who don't know who we are or don't want to be part of the show – it doesn't make sense. It's almost purposeless if there aren't people there to sing it with me but on the other hand it's easily one of my favorites to play when people are willing to be a part of the show.

＞invitation就是直接和聽眾產生連結的歌詞。從chorus的"trying to be so cool"到這一段bridge唱著"We're broken people"，好像是接納了自己的缺陷一樣，重新面對了自己的不完整、並不再逃避而因此勇敢。（在這一段，我腦中浮現的畫面是Tyler對台下觀眾唱著，觀眾也和著，同時觀眾的胸口一一浮現了他們的"Screen"，開始撥放著那些當初不願接受的、有著缺陷的自己，在音樂中大家漸漸懂得如何去愛自己的不完整，因為nobody is perfect。）
