Ode To Sleep 是2013年的專輯 Vessel (船) 中的第一首曲目
**專輯之所以稱作 Vessel，是因 Tyler 解釋說這張專輯如船隻一般
乘載著許多情緒、故事和人性的重量。
但其實這首歌在2011就收錄在獨立發行專輯 "Regional at Best" 裡了
至於為何這首歌會收錄在和唱片公司 Fueled By Ramen 簽下合同後
第一張公開發行的專輯 Vessel 裡頭的第一首歌呢？（好長一句話
Tyler 在滾石雜誌的訪談裡說道：
"The reason why this is the first song on the album is that I feel like it kind of prepares the listener for the rest of the album, it almost puts them through a boot camp of what to expect… Which is don’t expect anything! It’s one of my favourite songs to play live for sure. As far as the structure of Ode To Sleep it is one of my favourites because of how it accidentally fit together like a puzzle. I don’t know how this song happened or what I was thinking but I’m really excited that it did."
這首 (Ode To Sleep) 會當專輯中的第一首歌曲是因為，我想這首歌（如開場一般）能讓聽眾為專輯中其他的歌曲做好準備；就像新兵訓練營的下馬威來告訴你，接下來會出現的——將會是讓你措手不及的！而這首 Ode To Sleep 絕對是我現場表演最愛的一首歌，尤其是它的編曲，出人意料的銜接，就像拼圖一樣。我不知道這首歌到底怎麼出現的，或是我當時到底怎麼想出來的，但我真的很興奮能寫出這首歌。
說回歌名：
"ode" (/oʊd/) 是頌歌或詩文的意思，Cambridge 字典解釋如下
a poem expressing the writer's thoughts and feelings about a particular person or subject, usually written to that person or subject
是一種以表達作者之於某事物的思想、感受為主題的詩文
而舉例如 "Ode to Autumn" 就是秋頌
這首歌 "Ode to Sleep"……咦，總不能翻譯成睡頌吧XD
翻完歌詞之後消化了許久；整首歌的中心主題為夜深人靜之時，與自己心中惡魔掙扎的過程
所以就參考歌詞整體涵義跟歌名原文，翻成「安眠曲」，實在是有點反諷的概念哈哈哈
明明 Ode To Sleep，整首歌乍聽起來卻更像是 Ode To Darkness 呢
而這首歌最大特色，莫過於主歌到副歌的劇烈旋律變化
主歌的緊湊、壓迫、黑暗的饒舌；到副歌的明朗、輕鬆、琅琅上口
讓人第一次聽會很錯愕：什麼？這是同一首歌嗎XD？！
然而 Tyler 依然用節奏的變換漂亮的玩出情緒的轉換
從黑暗到光明、從絕望到希望，人性的脆弱和憂懼在 Tyler 的筆下總是藏不住

＞其實從「I'm not free, I asked forgiveness three times」開始就一直和彼得的故事有所呼應。前面提到三次不認主的三次罪過，加上「not telling who he's singing towards」則構成四次罪過，所以最後一句出現了「denial number four」第四條罪。而 whore 表達 Tyler 用寫歌換來的名利並不是他的本意，雖然這是非常表面的事實而他也從中獲益，但這個事實或許讓某些人忽略了他寫歌的目的。
