Fall Out Boy 在 6/23 發布了2017新專輯的第二首主打歌 "Champion"

從前面第一首跳離龐克很多的單曲 Young and Menace 走了回來

是我們比較熟悉的、充滿狂熱與衝勁的男孩們

一開始沒有很想翻這首其實XDD 因為是一首很 anthemic 的歌
（p.s. anthem是指很容易跟著唱的歌，無論旋律或歌詞等，很常見的單字）

但繼我們都以為是MV的 visualizer 之後的，正式MV登場了

這MV的題材也真的有點燒到我XD 歌本來就很熱血我愛，沒想到MV和首主打一樣非常有趣！

——有種虛實交錯的感覺。

這部 MV 給我的第一個感受是諷刺，讓我想起有個哲學甚或科學的問題：

「我們活著的世界是否真實？」

我們用網路建構了好多的虛擬世界，或許我們只是其中一個虛擬世界？

這是學術上已經在討論的問題，這部影片裡有提到，有興趣可以點去看看XD

另一層涵義是

用逐漸延燒的 VR 虛擬實境工具，一幕一幕地串起截然不同的人與、人生。

彷彿每個拿下 VR 的動作都讓我們看到一個：

憑空幻想著另一種人生的人

渴望體驗當另一個人的人

或是一個不滿現狀的人

最後，最後一個拿下 VR 眼罩的人，痛恨地暴烈的砸爛了它

彷彿當頭棒喝一樣砸給你看，親愛的，別再羨慕別人的人生了

「好好享受你無可取代的人生。」

這部MV，總而言之，對我來說還滿勵志的（或是警世XD?）

然後，還是要不免俗的來說一下歌詞

副歌太琅琅上口了就不用多說，我倒覺得這首歌份量最重、也最鮮明的一句歌詞是

"I'm a champion of the people who don't believe in champions"

要說回上一篇 Young And Menace 的翻譯介紹文內提到的

樂團中主要作詞人 Pete Wentz 人生中一直以來都有的困擾，bipolar disorder 躁鬱症

還有這張2017新專輯 "M A N I A" 的主題- nostalgia 懷舊

Pete 在歌曲中抱著緬懷過去、思考過去、後悔過去的視角寫著

"我為王者，為那些不信英雄的人而降生"

我想這一路走來 Fall Out Boy 的成長和歌迷們的成長，都見證了這句歌詞

Pete 在音樂裡找到歸屬感；一個不相信英雄的人成了這一群樂迷們讚頌的英雄

這無非是一種鼓勵，英雄不是別人，正是你自己。

＞Pete 說過，"M A N I A" 是一張帶有 nostalgia 的專輯，在我看來如是以一種狂烈的方式回首，去悼念過去、或懷念過去，甚或有一點悔恨的情意在其中。這句歌詞的迷霧就像是過去的錯誤被具象化了，在此刻想著當初的抉擇，玩著 "what if" 遊戲（要是...就不會...），多希望年輕時候就能懂事，但往往是懂事的時候就不再年輕了。

＞Fall Out Boy，他們的音樂給了樂迷們許多力量，他們甚至是啟發接踵而來的後代樂團的典範，他們此刻的成就也足以為自己冠上王者之名了。在之前，他們的歌曲（Pete 的詞）也曾為少數、找不到歸屬的那些人們發聲，讓原本孤獨的人有所共鳴，聚集起相同心境、愛好相同音樂的人：

＞Young And Menace 的MV底下註解欄中 Pete 寫的一段文字，和這段副歌的理念彷彿有所重合：

"The gentle pull of a tide that rolls over and over again and by the sheer nature of its essence it becomes an indestructible will- ripping out sand- eroding what was before it- without a care… a transformational monster-becoming the madness and frenzy of a truly bulletproof wave."

「溫柔的浪潮一次又一次的翻騰；而本於大自然純粹之本質，浪潮化為堅不可摧的意志，沖刷著岸上的沙，侵蝕著過往的一切，無所顧忌…… 一個改變世界的怪物，踏步如無畏子彈之巨浪的狂暴與盛怒。」

Genius 網友認為 transformational monster 和 Pete 的情緒兩極有關；並且在解讀這段文字的時候不妨把浪潮當成第一人稱去想像，堅不可摧的意志便是翻騰、淬鍊之後的成就；而那怪物彷彿就是 Pete 因為那些經歷與情緒而造就的音樂，是無畏子彈的堅強，襲捲了搖滾樂迷們的心、用音樂增幅了人們的信念。
