Lorde - Sober 中文歌詞翻譯介紹（含歌詞解析 / 字幕影片）：蘿兒 - 清醒 @ Achi 西洋音樂狂熱分子

Lorde 沉寂三年後回歸的專輯 "Melodrama" 中的第二首曲目

接續於點出分手後心境的 Green Light，這首 Sober 彷彿是派對開場序曲

詭譎又豐富多層次的音樂性讓各界佳評如潮，我也為之瘋狂著迷<3

網站 SPIN 上的撰文有一段這麼寫：

Lorde harmonizes and sings in conversation with herself, punctuating lines with staccato (斷音) blasts of backing vocals or stacking her voice until it’s three or four Lordes high.

Lorde 在背景的合聲彷彿在和她自己對話；錯落而緊湊的主旋律、合聲和樂器相互交疊

這首歌是三倍甚至四倍的 Lorde 高潮啊 XD !!

尤其是 brass (銅管樂器，小號長號法國號那類) 的部分，實在讓人驚豔 ♥

然後必須再提這首歌也是 Jack Antonoff 協力製作，這張專輯滿大一部分都有他的影子

他的樂團 Bleachers 最近也有新專輯 "Gone Now"，也是很多層次的享受

其中推 "Don't Take The Money"(Lorde在最後有和音) 和 "Hate That You Know Me"

有趣的是，這首 Don't Take The Money 和 Sober 有一句歌詞非常相似

Lorde 唱著 "You steal the air out of my lungs, you make me feel it"

Jack 唱著 "Oh, God, I’m clean out of air in my lungs / It’s all gone"

雖然沒有任何證據證明兩者關連，不過想必他們音樂交流中是有一定程度的相互影響

Lorde 說或許大家會覺得這首歌很怪、沒人會喜歡，但她自己非常愛

也老實說一開始在聽到 Sober 的時候，我壓根沒有感覺被旋律打中什麼的

但聽了兩次三次之後才發現這首歌鋪排的許多細節，非常驚喜

她在推特上發了分了好幾則推文講了這首歌的誕生過程

從搭 Uber 的時候突然有了靈感雛形，

接著在製作人 Jack 跟他老婆家中的餐桌上浮現更具體的想法

衝進錄音室寫出第一個demo，是強烈而低沉的合成樂風格+很長的鼓聲outro

之後另個製作人 Malay 在 Lorde 生日那天幫他們把demo昇華到另一個境界

最後填詞、修改，經過很長一段時間才成為現在聽到的版本

有著恣意迸發的號角聲、詭異的人聲合成，Lorde 很高興的說

"it felt like pop music i hadn't heard before"
「這感覺是我從來沒聽過的流行樂。」

"i think we expressed the emotions so purely- it's leaning & drawling, juvenile & triumphant - impressing someone then embarrassing urself & that late-saturday-night declaration "WE PRETEND THAT WE JUST DON'T CARE / BUT WE CARE" tasted as fresh & new in my mouth as ice water"

先要分享一下有個 podcast "Lorde: Behind the Melodrama"，Spotify上也聽的到

裡面就是 track by track，聽聽 Lorde 親口跟你聊聊每首歌

在 Sober 的部分裡 Lorde 提到，這首歌有一句能囊括整張專輯的歌詞

"I feel like the essence of Melodrama is 'We present that we just don't care / but we care'. We fucking care! and I'm going to show you. This record is a document about that care."
「我想 Melodrama 的本質就是『我們裝作我們不在乎，但我們在乎』，我們他媽的在乎！而我也會讓你明白為什麼。這張專輯就是對於這個在乎的紀念。」

而關於這個「在乎」，在這首 Sober 裡頭，其實也不用想的太複雜

這首歌的歌詞其實深度出乎意料地、比音樂性的豐富程度要少了些

然而 Lorde 就是有辦法把一件不是特別有內涵的事情寫的很漂亮，詞功了得XD

在 USA Today 的採訪撰文中，她透露：

'The song is about being a little bit involved with someone and it's magic when you are out — you're just king and queen of the weekend, you own the party.'
「這首歌是關於稍微地墜入某個人的情網，然後再脫離之後覺得難以置信：你們就是活在週末裡的國王和皇后，由你們主宰派對。」

所以，其實這首歌的歌詞發想就是一個衝動、刺激的愛情體驗吧 :))

不過，就像先前在 Perfect Places 的介紹裡提到的（<<點標題前往）

Lorde 說這句俗氣的歌詞或許在他人的歌曲裡聽起來是享樂，

但在她的歌詞裡，你可能會聽見那種狂歡之餘仍少了什麼的空虛感

就如 Sober 裡，不斷唱的 "but what will we do when we sober?"

是跳躍在這個派對插曲中、穿插在這一章狂熱裡的「掃興」

是派對/喝醉/狂舞時不斷打進腦子裡的一絲理智

回到這篇文章開頭的那串英文，那是 Lorde 在紐約時報採訪裡說的

＞從幽幽的切割音效開頭，直接告訴你這首歌就是關於午夜裡的瘋狂，彷彿是在酒醉迷茫裡用僅存的意識從口中擠出的字句。

＞get to, to start to deal with；很難用中文的詞彙去呈現這個簡單的小片語，比較像是觸及、面對某事物的意思。這一段 intro 一開始在 Genius 上的歌詞是錯的，現在已經被官方認證修正了 (verified)；Lorde 也在推特上回覆了網友的疑惑：'it's a funny little chop (切割音效) it's kinda "-night, midnight, lose my mind"'

＞缺氧。因為緊張、心跳加速而難以呼吸，覺得自己就快窒息一般；"It's all gone"的主詞可以視為肺裡的氧氣，也可以當作其他的東西，例如，眼前的所有東西。

＞儘管如此仍置身派對中，一顰一笑泰然自若，必須裝做什麼事情都沒有發生過。

＞nonchalant 是置若罔聞的、冷漠、不在乎的意思。用 play 這個動詞來比對前面缺氧的樣子，顯得更為輕浮、自在了，但換個方式說，也更為刻意了。

＞hip, the area below the waist and above the legs at either side of the body, or the joint that connects the leg to the upper part of the body；中文翻成臀部、髖部，指的是腰部以下到大腿以上、人體兩側的位置，就是側邊的屁股。這裡翻譯上解讀成跳舞時候的姿態。（難不成翻成我的屁股想念你的屁股嗎XDDD）

＞kick, a strong feeling of excitement and pleasure；kick 當名詞有刺激、愉悅感、快感、一時的衝動或樂趣的意思。例如 do something for kicks 意為為了找樂子而作某事。

＞Lorde 說過自己對 "teeth" 這個詞有特別的著迷：首張專輯 Pure Heroine 15(+1)首歌之中有三分之一的歌曲 (5首)：400 Lux, Royals, Team, No Better & Biting Down，皆提到 "teeth"。這次的 Melodrama 第一首歌 Green Light 的歌詞也有 "Well those great whites, they have big teeth"。

推特推文上她說 "teeth are a big ageing motif. generally our lives are marked by the moments we gain and lose our teeth." 牙齒是一個重要的歲月象徵，牙齒長成與脫落之時都為生命畫下了重要的轉折（年少與年老）。

＞這句歌詞是找了許久資料都無法確定的一句。ruse 是名詞，指用來欺騙他人的一些詭計、陰謀；'片語 keep up with 有趕上、跟上、保持在同個水準、保持對新事物的關注而不落後等意思，但用在這裡真的是滿詩意的，也不是片語，只能從前面歌詞 "These are the games of the weekend" 來解讀 "the ruse"，是指欺瞞派對中其他的人，不讓彼此的情意被旁人發現，至於 keep up with 則解讀成保持、繼續下去的意思。
