竟然在今年四月才登場，終於是讓飢渴的 Harry 粉聽到了他的 post-1D single

怎麼感覺有點像是壓軸XD 一個英雄最後才登場的概念

同時網路上也瞬間爆滿一堆 reaction video，每個都蠻有戲劇張力的(histrionic)...

（採訪開頭跟結尾有點大聲注意音量（by 被嚇到兩次的我）

在 AMP Radio 的採訪中我們可以知道，2016 年他基本完成了他的個人 debut 專輯

同時他也出演了諾蘭的驚悚戰爭片 "Dunkirk"（中譯敦克爾克大作戰），並且七月將於美國上映

不過電影開拍之前有段休息時間，他很誠實地說那段時間還滿無聊的XDD

關於這次 solo album，Harry 說道：

“The last couple of One Direction records we made on the road and that was amazing and a lot of fun. And I think for me, I just wanted to kind of, more so than be different from that, I just wanted to get out of somewhere where I had all my friends and where I’d want to go for dinner at a certain time. I just didn’t want to get distracted. I kind of just wanted to very much immerse myself in doing it.”

錄1D專輯和 solo 專輯最大的差別大概就是，自己做音樂是更多自我思考的一件事了吧

"I wanted to write something honest and something that I wanted to listen to. I think it’s impossible to not be influenced by stuff you grow up listening to — stuff my parents played and stuff that I still listen to now. We just kind of started writing and wanted to see what came out. We’re pretty happy with it."

而 Harry 表示他要寫出自己的故事、也想要寫出自己想要聽的音樂

在父母聽的音樂的影響下，他的 debut single 初登場單曲意外的一點都不1D

而讓我最喜歡的一點也是這個，在此刻 pop 當道、rock 不再備受矚目的時代

他呈現的是當今一點都不主流的音樂，甚至還是'70的 old soft rock

我超喜歡 Billboard 眾多撰文中 Andrew Unterberger 寫的那一篇

他說，

Throughout the song's nearly six-minute run time, the memories of British rock history shoot off like fireworks-- spanning from late-period Beatles to Bowie to Listen Without Prejudice-era George Michael to Suede to Robbie Williams and even early Coldplay.

「在這首歌接近六分鐘的時間裡，英國搖滾樂歷史的記憶就像煙火一樣接連迸發。從披頭四後期、大衛鮑伊，到 Listen Without Prejudice 時代的喬治麥可、麂皮樂團，還有羅比威廉斯、甚至是早期的酷玩。」

先是在台灣已經很紅的 Coldplay

最近回來出新專輯的羅比，I love my life ~

以及人稱英國搖滾傳奇、搖滾變色龍的 David Bowie；

開創七零年代的搖滾風潮，個性鮮明、同時也身兼演員

和 Beatles 披頭四、Queen 皇后合唱團並列英國20世紀最具影響的搖滾人物

除了創作出許多具深度的經典作品，他在舞台表演跟形象上亦「前衛」地打破性別框架、挑戰禁忌

華麗的搖滾、搶眼的服裝、具代表性的閃電妝，還有因為打架留下的一深一淺雙色瞳

獨特的 Bowie 除了是 Lady Gaga 造型和音樂的啟發者之一，更是讓眾音樂人尊崇的一頁輝煌

以下是讓 Bowie 受到首次矚目的、1969 發行的鄉村搖滾作品 "Space Oddity"

總而言之我很佩服 Harry 的這一步，至於這整張專輯會不會都是復古英搖的風格呢

Harry 說也不確定是不是都像英搖愛好者所想，但每首歌都會有不同的細節

而我想 Harry 沉澱這麼長一段時間，這個成果也是很令人滿意的:") 大家幾乎一片好評

至於會不會重掀英搖熱就拭目以待吧～:]

And, 下周六 4/15 Harry 將在 Saturday Night Live (SNL) 現場演唱這首新歌

據 Billboard 線報則說會像 Lorde 一樣表演兩首，而另一首就是到時候登場的新歌！

這首歌的歌詞，既不是泛愛式情歌也不是琅琅上口的 stadium anthem

是充滿濃濃陰鬱和不確定性的悲歌，這也是令人意想不到的一個點 :o

（真的沒有很多人會用悲歌當專輯首支主打

尤其是"Welcome to the final show"，一聽到就心想你才剛回來就 final show 是怎樣XD

歌名 sign of the times 是英文裡的既定片語（看到很多人翻成怪怪的意思我很困惑o_o

意思是一個時代裡具代表性的某個現象、事件等等，但很多時候是負面意義

例如關於對川普的抨擊跟梗圖(?)是 "a sign of the times" 這個時代的寫照

另外歌詞內容也是一個滿抽象的框架，或許可以說這歌詞塑造出了一幅黑白背景畫

其中的人物和角色故事則由聽者自由填入 :]

想起有句話說（我想不起來在哪裡看到的了...）：

聽音樂的當下若你有所感受，那歌裡的故事究竟是什麼一點也不重要，

「因為那已經是你的故事了。」

Most of the stuff that hurts me about what's going on at the moment is not politics, it's fundamentals," Styles says. "Equal rights. For everyone, all races, sexes, everything. ... 'Sign of the Times' came from 'This isn't the first time we've been in a hard time, and it's not going to be the last time.' The song is written from a point of view as if a mother was giving birth to a child and there's a complication. The mother is told, 'The child is fine, but you're not going to make it.' The mother has five minutes to tell the child, 'Go forth and conquer.'

「現在大多讓我感到痛心的事情不是政治的問題，而是更基本的問題，」哈利說著，「例如那些平等的權利。對於每個人、每個種族、性別、所有的一切…… "Sign of the Times" 訴說著『這不是我們第一次經歷這種困難的事情，而這也不會是最後一次。』而這首歌寫的視角，就像是一個母親分娩的過程中，母親被告知：你的孩子很健康，但你可能沒辦法撐過去。並且這位母親有著五分鐘的時間去告訴這位孩子，『勇敢的去吧，打個勝仗。』」

其實可以得知政治大概就是關於 Make American great again 之類的

然而讓我始料未及的是，這首歌是用一個更高的角度去書寫的，不只是哈利個人的事

而是為整個社會、所有正遭遇困難的人們所唱的，這更讓人有所感觸了

想是當自己無法承受之時，會再次想起這首歌吧，會回來聽聽哈利淡然地歌頌這時代艱辛的必然

不是第一次，也不會是最後一次；而我們都將 "go forth and conquer"。:')

＞sign of the times 是既定片語，字面上可以解讀成「時代的標誌」、「時代的象徵」等等，意思是指 "Something regarded, usually negatively, as emblematic of the current time period."，用來表示某些被視為象徵最近時代的標誌性事物，通常是有點貶義，例如：

"Nobody looks up from their mobile phones anymore. I guess it's just a sign of the times."

「沒有人抬起頭來把視線從手機移開，我猜這就是這個時代的特徵。」XD（例句來自 Farlex Dictionary）

＞一句很抽象、很象徵性的歌詞，代表一個終結，然而沒有說破是什麼樣的終結，可能是一段關係、可能是生命、可能是心境。有人說這個 final show 象徵1D的結束，但我想 Harry 傳遞的不只有1D的結束而已，應有其他更深層的事情；Genius 的網友分享一則報導，關於攝影師 Matt Irwin 與男友分手後在藥物過量狀況下逝世，而 Matt Irwin 生前曾是1D的攝影師，他的葬禮 Harry 亦有到場。

＞這句歌詞很難讓人不聯想到葬禮。在生命中的最後一個場合，換上光鮮亮麗的衣服與乾淨的妝容——在棺材中的人彷彿只是靜靜睡著，不像是失去心跳的生命。

＞bribe: to try to make someone do something for you by giving them money, presents, or something else that they want

＞"bribe the door" 似乎是因應歌詞而變的非正式用法，因為一般是 bribe someone 而不是 something。不過為什麼要 "bribe"？想必是無法通過這扇門才要 bribe，或許是犯了什麼錯才會被拒於通往天上的門外（感覺很像 "sinner" 罪人的概念），而這個錯可能是我們過去留在心中、一直不願面對的悔恨。

＞呼應上面的葬禮，這裡或許是指失去生命的人安詳的躺在棺材中，衣著和妝容都乾淨而完整，"look pretty good down here"，就像一個安穩睡著的人，然而事實上並不是像看起來那樣，他的靈魂或許並不是安穩的睡著……

＞除此之外這兩句也彷彿訴說著 "mental illness"，如果很喜歡 twenty one pilots 的歌詞也能有共鳴大概就很能理解這兩句歌詞XD；意思宛如人們總戴著一個面具，面具底下卻隱藏許多不為人知的情感，悲傷、憤怒抑或擔憂，我們全都為了安穩的生存、適應著社會和世界，將其深深的壓入心中，埋在平時歡笑說鬧不會發現的深處，直到「它」猝不及防的將我們吞噬。

＞這句聽起來像"Your bullets"但我不是太確定 :s

＞bullets 會造成傷害，然而在這裡的 bullets 造成的傷害似乎不是生理上而是心理上的，彷彿心中的某個創傷，每每浮現時就像是被子彈追逐著，如歌詞中"always running from the bullets"。而 Genius 網友列舉了一些 Harry 的人生大事，如他親生父親在他七歲時離開家裡；朋友 Matt Irwin（前面提到的攝影師）離世；One Direction 解散等等。

＞歌詞在文法有它的 leeway（自由空間），於是 "we been here before" 其實就是 "we've been here before" 的意思。（但官方歌詞還沒出來，說不定歌詞是 we've 沒錯）

＞break through: to force yourself through something that is holding you back，逼迫自己突破某個阻撓你的事物；atmosphere 是包覆地球的大氣層，在這裡比喻阻礙或是將你關起來讓你不得自由的逆勢等等，而這句歌詞也呼應著副歌一再唱著的 "We gotta get away from here"。

And things are pretty good from here

一切在遠走高飛後如此美好

謹記著這一切在未來將變得燦爛

＞歌詞中一直出現 "here"，但從不說明 "here" 到底是 "where"，真的深深覺得英文歌詞延展性太好太多代名詞了（前面的 they told me that the end is near 的"they"也是）；不過從每一句 here 出現的句子來看，"here" 具象化了一個不好的狀態，想是一次悲傷的經驗、一段令人後悔的故事、或是人生的低潮；交由你的故事來決定這個 "here" 有什麼樣不可取代的意義。
