終於看完總長一小時 Zane Lowe 跟艾德的 track by track 專訪影片

看完了也對這首可愛的 "What Do I Know?" 也更有心得了

話說大家都有注意到今年回歸艾德臉上多了一條傷疤吧XD

那是 James Blunt 在派對上開玩笑說想被 Princess Beatrice (英國王室成員) 封爵

於是封爵完收劍的時候 Beatrice 竟然不小心劃傷艾德的左臉頰，他當下還沒發現、直到襯衫一片血

事後 James Blunt 還叫艾德對大家說，其實是他想"reclaim his pop career by killing Ed" lol

～這裡是一位紅髮艾德忠實歌迷為歌迷們而寫的翻譯介紹文

陸續會翻完整張專輯... 目前進度是 7/16 (這篇也算的話) 好慢 ;-;

話說最近真的是被 UK Chart 嚇到，全英單曲百排前二十名有十六首全是艾德

完全是史無前例的奇蹟，前十名除了"Something Just Like This"之外

其他都是一片藍，只能說 Ed is dope

這次介紹的是專輯中第十首歌曲"What Do I Know?"

也是當初首聽就很catchy、很喜歡的一首歌

不過在看一些 review 的時候竟然看到有人很討厭這首歌的歌詞

......算了反正本來就不可能討好所有人，我並不想理性的去評斷音樂

我要做的只是呈現歌曲中所擁有的畫面跟故事而已

我只做讓人感性、感受音樂的事；評斷好壞的文字在我這裡是不會看到的

（不小心看到一些樂評的負評整個破壞了我聽音樂的興致- -）

回重點、介紹一下歌曲；

歌名 "What Do I Know?" 或許是反問（激問）的意思

歌詞裡唱著"Love can change the world in a moment, but what do I know?"

其實想表達"Love definetely can make a difference"

又或者是像採訪裡艾德提到，他不願在音樂裡表態任何政治立場或是宗教議題

除了招惹了各方的意見、報紙頭條新聞等甚至會扭曲他的本意、斷章取義

與其這樣他更希望能好好做自己的音樂就夠了

所以這彷彿是面對過去一年來世界的紛亂，大智若愚地說著

「我怎麼會知道呢？」

發行第一張專輯時他很擔心自己的音樂會不會從此畫下句點

他很在乎外界給他的評價，畢竟那是從街頭藝人變成歌手的一個轉捩點

“I was self-conscious about it on my first album, because I’d never had any success, I’d never sold any records, never sold a ticket, and I was terrified that it would be over in an instant. The album got panned by the critics and I was like: ‘Fuck, this is it.’ But now I’m at a point where, even if I get a one-star review for every album I release for the rest of my life, I’ll still be able to play music.”

然而現在他的心境已然變得豁達，不會再過度關注其他人的想法

（我想這跟他爆紅一路以來在媒體上看見、聽見各種關於自己的意見有關）

如今假設大家都給他的專輯評成一星，他還是能做自己的音樂、做自己

就算某個人不喜歡他的音樂，但他還是能和他當好朋友

“I know Noel Gallagher doesn’t like my music, but I get on with him as a person, so why does it fucking matter?”

這首歌我看見艾德為這張專輯添的一分「放下」

放下那些不必要的紛擾，放下別人對自己的成見，專心愛自己所愛

如他採訪裡說道

"Love is everything. I love 'love'. I love when people are happy."

無論被愛、愛人、或朋友的愛、伴侶的愛、家人的愛、對所愛事物的愛

愛彷彿世界上最神秘而且穿越一切限制的能量（有點類似安海瑟威在星際效應裡的台詞哈哈

音樂也是，穿越國界和語言，直達各式各樣的人、與其心中的故事

而創作者深愛的一件事，就是將這些感動傳遞下去，分享愛與共鳴

＞即席演講、佈道、在街頭宣揚理念的時候會拿一個木箱，站在上面說講；起初這種木箱通常是拿來裝肥皂的，所以就開始稱街頭演講者站的箱子或講台為"soapbox"；並有片語 on (one's) soapbox 或 get on (one's) sopabox 形容一個人強烈的宣揚某種理念或想法。

＞艾德被譽為是世界第一個站上舞台的街頭藝人；最為人稱道的表演方式就是他的 one man band，自己一人站上舞台，腳踏合成器、雙手彈吉他，一層一層堆疊出屬於他的音樂，堆疊出令人佩服的 loop pedal performance，舞台上沒有別人幫他彈奏其他樂器，才子艾德靠他自己一個人的吉他和歌聲征服世界！

＞exponential 就是指數，指數成長就是 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 這種不斷乘上去的倍數增長曲線（我也不知道為什麼要解釋這個XD）。

＞Genius 網友認為這句歌詞可能是向 John Lennon 的歌曲"Give Peace A Chance"致敬，以下附上原文以供參考：

＞revolution: a change in the way a country is governed, usually to a different political system and often using violence or war；只用革命兩個字總覺得不夠 violent，所以翻譯上加了暴動。

＞away 是距...多遠，若說 "I'm 15 mins away." 意思是我家住離這裡十五分鐘遠；這裡我原本解讀成革命發生在「距離家中一分鐘路程遠的地方」，表示距離很近的意思，但和前面的 is coming 即將來到不太合意，所以解讀成「距離革命還有一分鐘」。

＞balance on a razor blade 不是片語，我也不確定這一句想說的正確意思，但從 Google 圖片有兩張合成人走在刀片上看起來搖搖欲墜的圖片來看，大概是指平衡在極為尖銳的、面薄到不行的刀鋒上，重心非常不穩、一碰就會傾倒的意思，呼應了前面的歌詞 "revolution's coming" 與 "people marchin in the streets today"；人的愛與恨是非常容易被影響、脆弱、但格外強烈的情感。

＞razor blade 示意圖如下；之前在 MGK 機槍凱利某首歌的MV裡就是有拿這種刀片割腕，看了快要痛死我的媽呀…

＞fittin' your jeans 也不是什麼特別的片語，艾德是說除了眼前的一切，人生還有許多更美好的事物等待你潛心發掘；人生絕對不是只有哀嘆自己又變胖了、牛仔褲又穿不下了而已，還有許多事情值得思考、探索，千萬不要被自己的框架給困住了（呼應後面的歌詞 "So let's all get together, we can all be free"）。
