Virginia to Vegas，出生在美國維吉尼亞的加拿大24歲唱作歌手，本名Derik Baker

這名字真是太特別了XD 且容我下稱為"VV"

據 VV 和 BestFanTV 的採訪，VV 本來是和另一個朋友一起在 Youtube 上翻唱的

Derik 生在維吉尼亞州，而另外一個人名字叫做 Vegas，

於是兩人便取 Virginia to Vegas 當作 stage name，同時維吉尼亞相對拉斯維加斯是小城市

也有一種從「小城市→大城市」的抱負感吧XD

不過現在也不知何因，VV 現在是 Derik 的一人樂團了

btw 他在採訪中有提到未來最想合作到的藝人是 John Mayer！

VV 在去年 2016 十二月發行了個人第一張專輯，Utopian

把他 2013 年的 debut single "We Are Stars" 到現在的創作一同收錄

（不確定是不是 debut，不過確實是 We Are Stars 打開了他的知名度）

風格是 dance-pop、electronica 的走向，都挺輕快的，搭配他很柔和的聲線

 

這首歌是網友推薦翻譯的，說實在這首歌我是聽到 acoustic 才真的愛上XD

因為電子編曲讓我沒特別發現到，他柔和的聲線原來挺好聽的

而這首歌算是 "dark" dance pop，比較 aggressive、可以說比較兇狠的 pop 都算是dark pop XD

舉例來說 Usher 的 "Scream"，Lady Gaga 的 "Judas" 都是

而歌詞則翻玩了 Rockwell (1980's) 的 "Somebody's Watching Me"

"I always feel like somebody's watching me"

就好像是一種作賊心虛的感覺吧？至少在這首歌裡我是這麼覺得啦

其實原本以為這裡的 watching 是有種期待感，第一次翻的時候也把歌曲裡的 you=somebody

"Come close, baby, show me what you want"

"No, if you want to love me then don't you waste time"

但後來看到這段：

"We were trying to think of a dark sentiment and we used [the borrowed lyric] as a placeholder," Virginia to Vegas said to iHeartRadio about the sample. "And the more we wrote the song around it, we realized that we really couldn't live without that line."

 

哇哦 dark sentiment，於是我把一開始翻的關於期待的字眼全都改掉了

"And I know, we could have a little fun"

"No one needs to know / Only if you want to"

這幾句是不是看起來更像是偷偷摸摸的愛情了？呼應歌名 Lights Out，

這首歌或許說的就是藏在陰暗裡的火花呢
